Dag 2
I had my first motorcycle camping experience at LEE HI Travel Plaza. LEE HI is the oldest truck stop on the east coast of the USA and they have a reputation for good food. I had seen some reviews, even a couple Travel Channel segments on Youtube about their food. I also learned they have a small campground where you can tent camp for $10 a night. Sounded like a win-win. Unfortunately, the restaurant is no more (in August 2017 an iHOP will open in its place --- geesh!).
The campground was clean and the bath house was decent. There are only a few rustic tent sites; most sites at LEE HI are for pull behind campers (or, in some cases it appears, seasonal or permanent residents). The grounds are located between the truck parking lots and I-81, with the tent area being at the top of a ridge, closest to the Interstate. There is a good bit of noise from the Interstate in the tent area and, in fact, you can catch glimpses of traffic through the tree line. It's worth $10, but you may want earplugs if you stay at LEE HI.
